These fifteen boat color-by-number worksheets range from a single vessel to busy waterside scenes. The four easy sheets are Simple sailboat, Little tugboat, Rowboat with oars and Paddle steamer. Each uses six colors. The four medium pictures use ten colors: find a fishing boat at a buoy, a catamaran by an island, a canal boat carrying flowers and a ferry with a bicycle. Four detailed sheets use twelve colors in a reef, a lighthouse scene, a bay and a riverside village.
Compare the size and number of spaces before choosing a sheet. A broad sail is easier to fill than several separate cabin windows, even when both use one color. Each card shows its region count and opens a larger preview. The three expert compositions show a harbor festival, a floating market and an island expedition. Each contains at least one hundred numbered regions. Choose a small group of objects to finish first, then take a break before moving to the next part.
Every download is an A4 PDF for 210 × 297 mm paper. Page one contains the numbered worksheet and its color key. Page two contains the matching colored answer and the same key. Select only page one in the print dialog when you want to keep the answer as a surprise. Print in portrait orientation at actual size. Check the smallest numbers before beginning; reducing the page makes them harder to read.
The key is also built into each downloadable PNG and WebP, so it stays with the picture when you save it. PDF keys include written color names in the selected language alongside numbered swatches. For black-and-white printing, read the names and test each pencil on scrap paper. Pencils suit ordinary printer paper; try a marker on a spare sheet first to check whether it shows through.
Find a number in the key, choose its pencil, then point to a matching number in the drawing before coloring. Follow that number across the sails, hull panels, cabin windows, water and shore. Separate parts of a boat may share one number; check every part before changing pencils. On a busy harbor sheet, work on one vessel first and then check the surrounding buildings. The same number always means the same color within that sheet. Read the key again when starting another picture.
Leave the outside background and unnumbered white spaces white. Open the larger preview if you cannot read a number. Keep the colored answer folded away until you want to check your work, then compare one object at a time. If you used a different color, locate its number in the key and put the intended pencil beside the page before continuing. There is no need to match an exact screen shade.
Print a second copy and write your own color choices beside the key before starting. Keep one color per number so the repeated panels stay consistent. Try warm sails above cool water, or swap the hull and cabin colors. Compare your result with the supplied answer and explain which parts changed. You can also name each vessel and describe where it might travel. For unrestricted coloring, open the related boat coloring collection. To try a different paper activity, follow the separate origami boat lesson.
